DAO or not DAO, that's the question =================================== In the SCSI-3 Multimedia Commands (MMC) standard, the method which uses a description of which tracks are going to be written at which blocks (the so called cue-sheet) is called DAO (disc-at-once) writing, whereas a method that does not deliver this information to the writer is called "raw writing". It requires the computer to prepare most of the disc, puts a higher load on the computer and does not support session-at-once writing or (in its current form) CD text. Support for raw writing was added in V3.2d. If you use an older version of MakeCD and your drive fails with the error "MODE_SELECT6: Illegal Field in Parameter List" when trying to write in DAO, then it doesn't support cue-sheet-DAO and you need V3.2d (or newer). Please note: some companies claim to support DAO, although the drive does not support the real cue-sheet-DAO, but only raw writing.
