Get Notifications by Email

Recently I was asked whether there is an announcement mailing list for SyncEvolution. There is none; instead I started to announce new versions or major changes here on this blog. But because not everyone is using blog readers and visiting web pages to check for updates is tedious, I have installed the post notification plugin.

On the subscribe/unsubscribe page you can submit your email address and once you have received the confirmation email, select for which categories you want to get emails. Emails are formatted as plain text, contain the whole text of the blog post, and end with links to the original post and your personal subscribe/unsubscribe page.

In the future I will use the Announcement tag for those posts which contain important information that users of SyncEvolution should be aware of. Of course, every single one of my blog posts is worth reading, so you might as well subscribe to all

Have you considered uploading the NIT version to the Maemo Extra-devel repo or so its centralized with the other NIT apps?

Yes, I have thought about uploading to Extras. However, the current thinking seems to be that apps have to compile from source to be eligible for the Extras repository. For SyncEvolution that won’t work because the required libecal (for Dates) is not in Extras.
